Good-bye Hair!

Matthias finally got a haircut!  He hasn't had his hair cut since October when the clipper attatchement broke mid-hair cut and so he had to go bald.  We still haven't gotten around to getting a replacement, so today I pulled out some scissors and a comb, plopped Matthias down in front of Veggie Tales and went to work.  Shockingly, he stayed pretty still once he stopped trying to figure out what I was doing =)  Here are some pictures, his hair is supposed to be kinda spiked up on top, but I doesn't quite want to do that yet, so we'll probably have to gunk it up for a while.

Adventures in Painting

Last night, we all decided to do some painting.  The kiddos of course had a blast, Kelsi did some very nice painting, and Matthias managed get paint everywhere.  Kelsi painted a picture of the sun and one of the sky with some pretty clouds.  Matthias painted a brown blob that ended up getting a hole in the paper lol.  We'll call it "abstract".  We did learn, however that Matthias will need his own paints,  as he managed to turn them all brown and Kelsi wasn't left with much to work with!  Here are some pictures of the fun, sadly I'm still getting used to this camera so there are some blurry pictures here and there =)

Before and After...

Before:

After:

Slightly better, eh?  For those of you who have not heard, we purchased a set of couches yesterday (since our  furniture was about dead) from the thrift store for $40.  But of course they were frightenly ugly, so we set out looking at slip covers.  The cheapest ones they had at Target were about $60, but of course the ones I wanted were $100!  Forutnatly, I ran into Alisa Tenney while I was there, and she told me she had just seen some at Ross (I have to remember to thank her for that!).  So, off we went.  We searched up and down every isle of that store at least twice to no avail.  Finally, Daniel asked someone where they were.  The girl first told us they didn't have any, but then remembered they did.  Turns out there was about four of them hidden in the bottom shelf in the corner of the isle full of towels.  Go figure.  So we found a couple that were not only slip covers, they were a "living room in a bag", complete with slip cover, two pillows, a blanket and a remote caddy lol.  So we got one "chocolate" and one "vanilla" as Kelsi calls them.  Bests of all, they were only about $25 each =)  As you can see from the pictures, I was in such a hurry to cover up the horror that I didn't even take time to wash or iron the slip covers, so they are full of wrinkles, oh well, I'll do that later.  So, all in all we were pretty excited for our new couches and slip covers for $100!

Matthias the Chef

Matthias had loads of fun playing with some of the play food and cooking items I pulled out for him.  And of course I took pictures...it was just too cute not to.   He's been making all kinds of food today, even Buddy got to share some!  Sadly, I can't convince him that the rolling pin is not intended to be eaten, maybe it's because he's never seen Mom use one lol =)

Zombies and Cardigans

Since my house was overrun with zombie killers yesterday, my choice of activity was limited.  So I decided to make Kelsi something.  Now she gets a cute, little, cropped cardigan.  Hopefully it fits, but sadly she won't be home until Wednesday, so I won't know for a while =)

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/2 waffle

  • banana

  • handful of grapes

  • whole peanutbutter sandwich

Yep, he's a pig.

Cookie-Time!

Last night we let the kiddos make some cookies with their new cookie-making kits.  Matthias of course, couldn't quite understand why he couldn't just eat the dough, but he had fun anyway!
