Hurry!

Time appears to be dragging. I think it's a conspiracy against me. We were able to make an arrangement with our new landlord to get into the place early in exchange for cleaning it. So, that means we should have the key as early as this weekend. In the meantime, however, we're packing up all we can so our place is filled with boxes, there's not much to do and there's nowhere to walk. Oh, fun. I wish time would just move faster so that we can start clearing out some of this stuff! Ok, enough complaining ;) Speaking of cleaning...anyone want to help? It will be lots of fun!

On another note, since most of our stuff is packed up, we had nothing to do for "Family Night" this week (which just so happened to be on Saturday since the Dave Ramsey thing was on Thursday), So we decided to take the kiddos to McDonald's and then to Hastings to let them pick out a new book. We've decided that there is an unspoken rule at McDonald's. If you kids are well behaved, they are allowed to sit in the dining area, if they are brats, you must take them to the play area where they will not disturb the other patrons. Now, this does not mean that all kids that go into the play area are brats of course. There was this one family where it was quite obvious who was in charge. It was the 5 year old girl climbing on all the tables yelling at her mom that she wants ice cream. What was her mom doing? Standing in line yelling right back, asking if she wanted chocolate or strawberry. I think just about every person in there was glaring at her lol.
At Hastings, Kelsi picked out a couple of Warriors books...shocking...while Matthias spent the time playing at the train table. We found a couple of educational type books for him, the kind where he can practice his writing and counting and such and then it just wipes off. So, that's about all the excitement going on around here...oddly, I have not pictures to share!

So, after reading Melissa's "Wordless Wednesday" post, I remembered that I had taken a couple of pictures of Matthias a while ago that I had thought would be fun to use for one of those. Then, as I as pulling the pictures off my camera, I realized there were a lot of pictures on there I hadn't done anything with yet! So, here they all are in one post:

Pizza Night

We made some gluten-free pizza! The best part was, it actually tasted like pizza...imagine that! If any of you are interested in the recipe we used (which was really good), you can find it here. Of course, I had plenty of help from the kiddos:


They had a blast making pizza, although I think a little too much got "tested" while they helped ;) Matthias kept "checking" on it while it was cooking...he was rather impatient! As you can see, the pizza was enjoyed by all.

Sir Beldin, Wyrmslayer

This is Sir Beldin, Wyrmslayer...  doesn't he look ferocious?   I finally broke Daniel down enough, and we bought ourselves a bird last night =)  We got him while Matthias was visiting with Grandma, so we thought it would be pretty fun to see his reaction.  When we got home, Matthias started playing on his slide (yes, we have a slide in the living room), then he spotted the bird.  Matthias just kind of stayed at the top of the slide, eying Beldin warily.  Finally he asked "what's that?".  So I took him over to say hi.



As I was pointing out the food and water and stuff, I accidentaly bumped the cage, causing Beldin to freak out and flap around wildly (he was a bit jittery from all the excitement of the day).  Matthias freaked out too!  He ran to the couch and wouldn't get off.  Even for dinner lol.  I had to hold his hand and walk him across the living room to the kitchen, explaining to him that the bird was going to stay in his house, and wasn't going to get out.  After dinner, he managed to walk around a bit more, but still wouldn't go withing 6 feet of the cage =)

Today, however, Matthias has been a bit braver.  He's been talking to Beldin all day, making sure he knows what his name is and where his food is =)  Beldin seems to be taking to Matthias though, he actually tweeted at him a couple of times!

Cleaning Matthias

Matthias was oh-so-helpful today and assited me in cleaning the floors (which as you probably see, needed it quite badly).



Sadly the promised family photo excursion did not happen due to snow...yuck!  But we are all looking forward to seeing "The Jungle Book" tomorrow, and hope to get some pics of Kelsi with the cast members again!

Mommy's Big Helper

Matthias has been such a big helper today ;)  When I was vaccuming, he decided to make sure the cabinets were in order.





Then, he was so nice to help with folding laundry...



He decided it was quite comfy in there, and settled in to watch t.v.





And what was it that he wanted to watch?

Ok, back to folding clothes now.

Good-bye Hair!

Matthias finally got a haircut!  He hasn't had his hair cut since October when the clipper attatchement broke mid-hair cut and so he had to go bald.  We still haven't gotten around to getting a replacement, so today I pulled out some scissors and a comb, plopped Matthias down in front of Veggie Tales and went to work.  Shockingly, he stayed pretty still once he stopped trying to figure out what I was doing =)  Here are some pictures, his hair is supposed to be kinda spiked up on top, but I doesn't quite want to do that yet, so we'll probably have to gunk it up for a while.

Matthias is gone...

...and he has been replaced by a bottomless pit!  For breakfast today, Matthias ate:

• 2 eggs


• 1/2 waffle


• banana


• handful of grapes


• whole peanutbutter sandwich

Yep, he's a pig.

Coloring Goodness

After Matthias decided I needed a few additions to the dinner menu I was working on, I got him set up with his crayons and some paper (all the coloring books were MIA).  So he's been sitting at the table for the last half hour or so coloring and saying "very pretty" continually =)

Like Mother Like Son?

So, I know it's supposed to be cute when you kids try to copy you, but, well....



...I don't know how cute that giant knot of yarn is!  Fortunately, he picked my giant, monster sized crochet hook to play with, and that doesn't really fit up his nose =)

Big Boy Bed

Matthias is officially in a toddler bed! He thinks he's pretty cool to have a bed like everyone else, but doesn't quite like the fact that he has to stay on it. It hasn't been too bad, he stays in his bed just fine for his nap... but he makes sure I know he's not happy about it! Bedtime, however, is a bit different. Fortunately, when we hear his little feet heading across his room, Daddy goes up and gets after him, and then he stays in bed after that. Each night so far, we've woken up to him screaming because he'd fallen off his bed, rolled under it and had gotten stuck. Hopefully he soon learns to avoid the whole two foot portion of bed that doesn't have a barrier, I don't like waking up at 4 am! And of course we have pictures to document the event (getting a bed, not getting stuck under it in the middle of the night =P).
