New School!

K-Lou is going to a new school next year! This means we finally get to take her out of public school...yay! We've always had a hard time having her in public school, but it's been getting to be more and more of a problem. We were constantly having to explain to her why what we believe is different than what the schools were teaching her in terms of science and even history. And of course there is the influence of the other kids which we were not always thrilled about. Although, I have to say, we heard some amusing stories about K-Lou at her last parent-teacher conference. Like how she asked the guest speaker from China about the persecution of Christians there. That was a good one. Anyway, she will be attending a private Christian School located at our church. The great part is, we get a 30% discount because Daniel works in full time ministry. Yesterday morning we took K-Lou to the school to sit in with them for a while. She spent about 2 hours there and loved it! She knew one of the kids from church and said that everyone was really friendly to her. I think it helped a lot that while she was there she got to join in on recess, P.E., practice for their talent show, and lunch. She was also rather impressed at how often they talked about God during school. Apparently she didn't really believe us when we told her that's one of the reasons we want to send her there! She's defiantly excited about it though which is a huge relief for us because she's been having a hard time with the idea of leaving her school and friends to go somewhere new. One nice thing about this school is that it goes all the way through high school, so there's a good chance she can stay there!

MZ Quotes

Remember the Jesus and Moses dolls? MZ still loves them and plays with them continually. An added bonus is that we get some fun quotes to share:

"Look, Klou, Jesus has underwear too!"
"I can't reach Jesus!"
"I don't want Jesus right now!"
"Oh, no! I dropped Jesus!"
"Jesus needs a nap too."

Of course now that I am sitting here trying to remember everything he's been saying, I can't! Oh, well, more content for next week I guess!

The Great Crib Saga

Well, folks, we don't plan on using a crib for Little Miss LG. I know, practically unthinkable, right? Let me give you reason number one:

When MZ was a baby, he slept in a bassinet/playpen in our room until I was comfortable enough letting him sleep in his own room. That was at about 6 months. I'm a bit overprotective at times...but, really, his room was all the way down the hall! Up until that point we hadn't gotten a crib so we had to go buy one. Now, I will admit, we certainly didn't buy the highest quality crib available. When we set it up, it broke. Not enough to make it unsafe, just enough to make it so I couldn't lower the side. Then, about a week or two into using it MZ managed to get a leg stuck in between the rails. Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't think a 6 month old baby's leg should be able to fit in there! So, there he is completely stuck and screaming his head off. I had no idea what to do, so I grabbed one of the rails and pulled it a bit thinking that maybe I could bend it just enough to get his leg out. It snapped in two. Seriously. I am by no means a very strong person either. So, the crib got tossed and MZ used his playpen again. We ended up just keeping him in there until it was time to switch to a toddler bed.

Reason number 2: So far in 2010 there have been approx. 7.3 million cribs recalled. Yes, you read that right. That's not even including Simplicity who has recalled all models of cribs with tubular metal frames. There's not even an estimate for how many of those there are! All 7 million of these cribs were all recalled because babies dying due to malfunctions. It wasn't just "oh, your baby could get injured", it was death. I also recently heard that there is some kind of legal action taking place to ban side dropping cribs. Of course playpens have some recalls as well, but they're always for things like the side collapsing if bumped just right. Which isn't likely to cause serious injury. Am I being a bit paranoid with all this? Yes, most likely. But I guess there are worse things to freak out about ;)

So, it came down to either spending a ton of money buying a crib from a trustworthy company or using a playpen. We voted for a playpen.

Baby Clothes =)

We've made a couple of thrift store shopping trips in the last couple of weeks, and I (of course) have been buying cute girly stuff! Our favorite thrift store has changed their location, they are now in the new building at our church. This could be an issue because we're likely to go there more often now! Another thrift store near us has closed, we didn't ever shop at this one because any time we went in there we felt like we were going to be eaten. The place was so crowded and disorganized. But we did decide to go there when everything was 90% off! Sadly by the time we got there there was not a lot of good stuff left. So, here's some of the things we've purchased recently:

I was pretty happy about this little thing. Anyone know what they are called? Anyway, wanna guess how much we paid for it? Only $.20! It fits up to 9 months and has a nice little slot to put the carseat buckle in so Little Miss LG can stay nice and cozy this winter! You can't tell from the picture, but it's really cute and looks pretty much brand new.

A couple of little outfits, $.99 each.

Some PJ's, $.99 each. I loved those little gown jammies for newborns. Makes it so much easier to change them in the middle of the night!

Little onesies/tops. Some of these were $.99, some were only $.2o! Ok, so I know the pirate one is probably not really for girls, but really...it's a pirate saying "argh!". She can wear it with a little denim skirt and a bow in her hair. It's all good.

Some little pants, all $.20-.99 each. Hmm...maybe I need to stop buying little pink pants.

Some little dresses, again all $.20-.99 each. Let me just say, I love the little lime green one! Maybe Little Miss LG will have red hair, that dress would look so cute with red hair!

This is what MZ got today. One is Jesus and the other Moses. Can you guess which is which? MZ keeps arguing with me, telling me that Moses is not carrying the 10 commandments, there's only two. They each say "7 inspirational verses", pretty exciting, eh? They were each $.99 =)

And really, you can't put a price on this much fun!

My New Obsession

Giveaways. Yep, giveaways. I've always liked entering giveaways and have won some fun stuff in the past, but now I've started entering giveaways for baby stuff. More specifically, cloth diapers. The fun thing about most giveaways is that you can usually give 3-5 extra entries for blogging about the giveaway. Now, I don't usually do this because I don't want to be spamming all you guys who just come here to see pictures of my cute kids =) So, I started another blog lol.
This blog of mine has two purposes, first to win stuff. Kind of obvious, I know. Fortunately it only takes a few minutes to enter a contest here and there. Secondly, I'd love to get to the point where I get free stuff to do products to do reviews. How fun would that be? Sadly I doubt that will be happening anytime soon.
Anyway, click here if you want to visit. And if you want to be really nice you can "like" it on Facebook or join Networked Blogs. Although if you do that then I'd recommend you immediately hide my updates...otherwise your Facebook will be filled with cloth diapers! I've been getting a lot of traffic and RSS subscribers, but no fans...so my little widgets look rather lonely =(
