So, we got a dog today. As with most things, it came to be rather suddenly. Earlier today, Daniel called me and asked if we were interested in a dog, apparently someone at work had emailed out about a 6 year old cocker spaniel who needed a home. We had been talking about getting a new pet since Beldin died, and now that we have a larger house with a yard we've been thinking about a larger pet. And since Daniel shot down all my other pet ideas (bunny, goat, sheep, chickens...) we thought a dog might be a good way to go. So now we have buddy =)
He seems to fit into our family pretty well so far. He was previously owned by a couple in their 80's who recently passed away, so he's a bit spoiled! And fat! So he needs a few dietary changes and a bit of exercise, which he seemed to get just following the kids around! He's taken to them both very quickly...and they to him.
He's spent the entire evening so far exploring...
running after the kids...
and begging for food!
The real test will be tonight when he won't be able to sleep in our bed as he's apparently used to =)

how did your night with buddy go ???
Not too bad. He spent a couple of hours after we went to bed wandering around...so we got to hear his tags clanking together and his claws tapping on the kitchen floor for a while. He hung around our bed quite a bit, hoping to get an invitation (he's really good about that, he wouldn't jump up on the furniture or anything until we told him it was ok)then eventually slept on the floor at the end of the bed.
